AA Digital Tyre Inflator — preset PSI in the boot

AA5502 with screw-on valve, 3m cable, and auto shut-off. The boot-stored backup when motorway air lines let you down.

The short version

The AA 12V digital inflator is the pump you want before a slow puncture ruins a bank holiday. Set PSI, screw onto the valve, plug into a live 12V socket — it stops on its own within about 1 PSI of our track gauge.

It is loud (it is a compressor), and there is no carry bag. The screw thread is slower than a clip but leaks less on a frosty valve stem — worth the ten extra seconds.

What stood out in testing

Honest trade-offs — not just the marketing bullet points.

What we liked

  • Auto shut-off at target PSI — no guessing at the garage pump
  • Screw-on valve leaks less than clip-on types on cold mornings
  • 3m lead reaches rear tyres on most hatchbacks

What to know

  • Loud — fine at services, awkward on a quiet street at 5 a.m.
  • No carry case in the box
  • Needs engine running — not cordless away from the car
